Spokane, WA – Arthritis Northwest announced a new shared savings contract, established with a large Washington State health plan, designed to provide medication cost transparency to physicians and to remove strict step therapy barriers for patients. The new agreement incorporates a Medication Clinical Management (MCM) program, an innovative model that is expected to lower cost and support a higher quality of care.
“As rheumatologists we now have a large number of treatment options available for many forms of arthritis and autoimmune disorders. However, there are wide variations between those treatments in terms of expense and access to treatment. Through mutual shared interest in providing high-quality and cost-efficient care, this agreement empowers us as rheumatologists to make cost-effective and individualized treatment decisions. Burdensome requirements are reduced, and we follow evidence-based pathways and guidelines as we care for our patients.” Christopher Wright, MD.
Arthritis Northwest will be utilizing Discus Analytics’ flagship digital software platform, JointMan®, to support this contract. JointMan helps physicians manage and track medication management savings, while following established pathways. Patient outcomes and quality metrics can be measured in real-time, with point of care decision support and population health oversight. The forward-thinking company built capabilities in JointMan® that now support key criteria for value-based payment models. The platform is EHR-agnostic and integrates seamlessly with most electronic health record systems.
“As payment models evolve, rheumatologists need a proven approach to care pathways, patient management, and payer negotiation. Digital platforms like JointMan® become the backbone for value based contracting, allowing for pathways, cost transparency and real time data sharing to communicate patients’ needs and outcomes for accountable care,” says Karen Ferguson, Discus Analytics’ Chief Executive Officer. “By partnering with health plans, we can leverage rheumatology’s true value with value based designs that really demonstrate better patient outcomes.”
